Hello! I’m Yang Jiwoon, 23 years old. Even as I’m introducing myself like this, I feel a bit nervous. The fact that I’m typing despite this nervousness somehow feels more embarrassing. It’s the same when I act. I’m always learning something new and always having fun. I think this is my strength. Of course I should have technique, but if it doesn’t last long, what’s the point? I guess you have to keep moving because it has to be fun. Sometimes I write a note in my work diary: “I was an actor since I was born.” That line, that little sentence, keeps me moving. I also think that acting, even if I haven’t had a lot of experiences, is something that could take 10, 20, or 30 years and still feel insufficient. When I first debuted in the work “Second Semester of Third Year” and played “Woo-jae,” I prepared a lot, but in the end I did nothing and many scenes were improvised on the spot. Each time I thought that the past has passed, the future hasn’t come yet, and the present is flowing. It was a moment when grand acting became concise. Inspiration flowed in. Ah... if I simply gaze at this moment and stand between what’s heard and what’s seen, acting is really about this moment. I prefer the word “action” to “challenge.” Because I’m acting in this moment too. It’s a phrase I’d like to live by. Thank you.
