I have only acted once as a supporting character and once as a lead in a university theater club, and a single small role in a drama—those are the extent of my acting experience. At the time I thought I did my best, but looking back now I see how much I was lacking, and I regret that I focused only on the emotions of the characters. I now understand what the unresolved issues were, and what blocked my growth, through various training methods, consistent monologue practice, and regular acting exercises. By analyzing the script while considering a character’s desires, goals, relationships with others, and the situations they face, I have grown from an actor who felt overwhelmed to someone moving forward. While experience can never be absolute, I know its value cannot be ignored. In that sense, I know I won’t be a primary consideration.
