A performer who believes in the power of voices that break through to the world—this is Song So-yeon. Born in 2001, 25 years old. People carry their own unique narratives, yet we often forget that. The foundation that creates our own culture and world is memory. Even if we can speak of ourselves only through memory and experience, that can be enough to connect us. Through that, it becomes a space of solidarity.

An actor is, at essence, a storyteller who conveys the sense and narrative touched by these memories. To do that, one must exist for it and be willing to throw oneself into it anytime, anywhere. With a listening heart and a humble, accepting attitude toward life.

I believe in the power of narratives and in the miracle that stories can nurture bonds and memories between people. I have grown within such a multifaceted space and look toward a future that hasn’t arrived yet. All the stories I love have made me dream of “hope within despair.” That realization brought me here.

In the beginning I started for ‘me’ alone, driven only by my own desires. But now I stand on another plane. I know I must give back what I have received, and that is my true duty. These days are exciting and thrilling. I wonder what will happen next and live each day with curiosity about the world.

I want to repay the warmth and comfort that the stories I have embraced have given me, by letting them flow back into the world, gently and lovingly.
