Hello! I am Son Young-shin, a native Jeju dancer and actor born in Shinheung-ri, Jocheon-eup, in the eastern part of Jeju Island, and I have lived in Jeju all my life. I graduated from Cheongju University with a degree in Dance, returned to my hometown, and passed the Jeju City Opera House audition to work as a professional dancer who brings Jeju culture to the stage through dance. After directing the mass choreography for the Jeju Girls’ High School during the first Jeju National Sports Festival, I served as a dance teacher for five years at a Jeju middle school. I later ran Son Young-shin Dance Academy and currently work as a school dance arts instructor under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a lecturer at Jeju University Lifelong Education Center, and a social dance arts instructor in Jeju. I also serve as artistic director of the Danse Jeju Dance Company, planning performances and choreographing and appearing on stage, and I am the CEO of Aewol Rak Rak. While in college I was close with the Department of Theater and Film and always had an interest in acting, and a chance collaboration with a Jeju actor led me to act. Last year I passed the Jeju MBC Dumin Actors Open Audition and appeared in a Jeju dialect drama. A representative from Jeju MBC told me my voice tone and projection were good and encouraged me to pursue acting. I’m based in Jeju, and I didn’t know about Castlink before. I’m not usually active on computers or social media. A friend sent me news that Castlink was looking for Jeju dialect actors, and I felt like winning the lottery and applied without hesitation.
