I started acting after working as an extra and getting hooked by watching actors perform. I witnessed actor Lee Jung-jae’s heated scene at a horse racing track in <Squid Game>, and though I was far away, his shouted voice conveyed a sense of injustice and anger that resonated with me, and I felt something pass through me. I began acting because I thought this thing that can convey that feeling is a cool profession, and four years have already gone by.
Throughout many shoots I’ve had various thoughts about acting. Until recently, I believed that the emotion a character holds was truly important. I still think emotion matters. But even if I have that emotion, I’ve come to think that the containers for expressing it—shot size, angle, continuity, and other elements—are also really important.
If we work together, I want to immerse myself in the work and during the shoot make the film my reality, fully existing as the character I’m playing!
Maintaining a good atmosphere is also a skill of an actor, so I’ll never argue that I’m always right and disrupt the mood. I’ll absorb the director’s feedback well and become an actor who can deliver the exact option you want.
Still, I understand that the image you’re envisioning for a role may not match mine. There are roles I can’t pull off. Even if not this time, I’d be grateful if you’d feel free to reach out. Passionate shoots always ignite me!!
Thank you for reading this long message :)
