From birth, the challenge began, and another new start of that challenge is Castlink. I am Han Ji-ho, a father of a family who enjoys acting and performing on stage in 대학로 as a musical theatre actor, and now, while working part-time, I’m active in dramas and films in supporting roles. I love acting and enjoy staying active with friends, and I’m sociable, optimistic, and believe in the value of connections with a flexible mindset. My strengths? I’d say genuine dedication to acting, flexible thinking, and adaptable performances. I don’t like being boxed in by rigid stereotypes. When the National Theater audition was announced, I thought, “No, I won’t make it… for someone like me,” and looking back, that was a needless fixed idea. Even if I fail on paper, I’ll shake it off and boldly try—this moment feels so joyful and free of regrets. I also think making my co-actors feel comfortable is a strength. Friends who have worked with me in performances often say they’d like to work with me again in the next project. Haha. I prefer expressing myself freely rather than being constrained. Not every emotion benefits from novelty, but I try to keep all possibilities open and perform, rather than sticking to the usual. To date I’ve played diverse characters with different jobs and personalities. The most memorable performance would probably be the very first stage I stood on, the “단발령” (short hair) performance—lighting that illuminated me, the grand sound, and the audience’s applause. That moment of exhilaration and the heartbeat I’ll never forget, which is why acting remains a daily pursuit. Going forward, after college, I cherish the initial sense of belonging I found with 경주시립극단 and my first performance there is unforgettable. And the turning point of my acting life—the work “당신만이”—is unforgettable as well. I always played strong supporting roles, but in this production I became the lead from start to finish, which was physically exhausting and demanded endless reactive lines. The weight and responsibility as a lead, the whirlwind of emotions, and standing at the center of the event to guide the audience through the world of the play were challenging. Honestly, I’m not sure what I’ll be like 10 years from now, but I’m sure I’ll still be preparing for a better future, just as I am today. In the future, anywhere and anytime I’ll relentlessly study the given role, so I can express myself in front of the camera or anywhere as a sincere actor. I will work hard to become a genuine actor who can express ideas anytime, anywhere.
